@jesslynnrose When I was a kid, my parents bought our family home from a former miner, who had some kind of historic deal where the house came with free coal deliveries every month (I lived in a mining village and the house's central heating was powered by a coal fire).

@jesslynnrose One of my post-school chores in winter was to go out to the garden, fill up a scuttle with coal, and put it on the fire (after carefully emptying the ashes from it). If it went out, the whole house was freezing. This was in the year 2000.
