Just got prompted by LinkedIn to set up two-factor auth. Cool – when you choose to install an authenticator app, it gives you this screen: eg. you have to type that secret key manually into your phone. Literally everywhere else I've ever seen this done uses a QR code for this.Permalink On twitter.com

This is what I'd consider "hateful UX", where you've punted an engineering problem (generating QR codes on the fly) onto the customer, and not even tried to sugar the pill (eg. spacing out the random string to make it more readable etc).On twitter.com
