      1. Cycling home down a canal towpath in the foggy darkness was an adrenaline junkie's dream. People looming out of the darkness like shrouded ghosts; unable to see the path surface so veering ever nearer the dark waters; feeling like Dracula was about to jump out of gloomy tunnels.
